Yamadera

Visiting Yama-dera (literally "mountain temple") was the main purpose of our trip to Yamagata. We climbed over 1,000 steps to reach the summit, which was really fun and refreshing.

During the trip, I didn't come across as many English signs as I did in other parts of Japan I had ever visited. I therefore chose this Japanese sign saying "Thank you for coming to Yama-dera!" in the local dialect, which I spotted at Yamadera Station.
