Arnolds Cameroons

The brown ones are Cameroon sheep and I am surprised to see they are fairly rare in the UK - no "taking back control of our borders" references please.

My daughter Kate in Ireland is thinking of increasing - changing her hobby sheep "operation". Living in her somewhat damp under foot climate she thinks she needs to have a hardier breed more suited to the ground conditions. Her favourite at the moment is the Soay (Scottish) breed but not that easy to come by at a reasonable price,

The Cameroon is a very easy breed to keep and is also hardy but better in a hot dry climate. Around us there are lots of small herds, at least one in our village and the Bliped ones in the next village which I think are just part of the flock. They are being moved along the edge of a road, every day or two moved to the next section.

Given the miserably low price of wool, another benefit of the Cameroon is that it is a "hair" rather than "wool" type and loses it's coat naturally. Thus no  shearing.

I would like to have some sheep as we simply have too much grass for two horses and we end up simply cutting and composting much of it - shame. But we all know the problems, the last of which being the one when the time comes to consider getting back some of the cost!
