Coffee machines and pelvic thrusts
What a nice day for staying under the duvet for a while. But no. Pilates was calling. Yes, the first session was today. I quite liked it. It's a much easier class than say, Spanish. In most classes it's obvious you haven't done the homework or don't know the answer or haven't been listening. In Pilates, you can be doing anything (or nothing) and the teacher can't see if you're holding in your pelvic muscles, or stretching your bottom, or indeed, moving your belly button to your pubic bone. Breathing seems to be quite important and breathing out while doing the exercise is key. But this is quite hard to do. In fact, several of the exercises I couldn't breathe at all, and said so.
She said right away that we wouldn't be using the belts yet- we all had ours out ready, as per instructions. So that was a bit disappointing.
The hour flew by quite quickly, so that's good. When I went to Spanish a year or so ago, I used to be watching the clock and willing the hour to be up before she asked any more questions round the class.
I then popped to the new cafe I read about at the weekend. They apparently take coffee very seriously and have one of only three hand built coffee machines in the UK. It's a really nice space, with exposed brickwork, old floors from a school gym, so there are patches of paint where the old lines were painted in various colours. And the background music was good. Nice and low, no screeching, tuneful. So it's not muzak. Muzak is when you have to listen to something that you don't like.
The coffee was good. Although at £2 more than I can make at home, not that good to make it a must. They have a Slayer coffee machine, which costs as much as a car!
Walked back in the rain, looking for a blip. I watched a young man in the Meadows training his labrador to sit and stay and fetch. I can spend a pleasant hour or so watching YouTube videos of how to train your puppy to do this and that - they're great fun. This puppy, if it ever eventuates, should be the best trained dog in the land!
My blip today is of the wee coffee van that seems to always be at this spot now, and I had a chat with the young woman. It belongs to her friend who is a Business Studies student. Enterprising. A van with a built in coffee machine. What fun!
But I'm happy with my little £50 machine.
