Mono Monday : : Distant
We drove down from Los Angeles to Fallbrook this morning to spend a few days with My brother Rick and his wife Meg. This is the view from his back door across the canyon to the distant hills. We used to call Rick's place "The Southern Resort" Now that we have moved to Sonoma County, we call our place "The Northern Resort" There are a lot of similarities, not the least of which being the fact that we both have numerous places to sit outside and enjoy the view and a meal.
Meg's mother is here until tomorrow and while everyone else went off to the store I sat with her and heard some stories about her family. She is 97 years old and the only difficulty she has is that she is quite hard of hearing. She commented on the fact that she reads my journal and I told her that stories like hers were exactly why I keep this journal.
Will is sitting next to me working on a Blip book for me. I looks like between Blipper HazelH and Will, I will at last have some more books on my shelf. I don't really think my life is particularly special, but the historian in me likes the idea of leaving a written record. It may not be that interesting to those who are living with me now, but as I consider the questions I never asked , I think it may be valuable to somebody in the same way that archaeologists get excited when they uncover an ancient midden....
