Army - Be The Best

The Army are often recruiting in Castle Street, Edinburgh, and today I took the opportunity to ask if I could take a photograph and, luckily, Lance Corporals Spence and Lochrie (both from the Scots Guards) duly obliged. I am incredibly proud of our armed forces and everything that they do for us and our country and am privileged and honoured to know some serving (and ex serving) members of the military. This may be a controversial statement but, if I had my chance again, I would have loved to have had a career in the military and I would have no qualms about encouraging either my niece or my nephew to join up. I appreciate the dangers are great but, in my opinion, I think the opportunities far outweigh them.

PPs As the Scots Guards are an armoured infantry regiment, I thought I would mention that Gary Tank Commander starts tonight on BBC1 Scotland at 10.35. Unfortunately, neither Lance Corporal Spence or Lochrie are fans. Apparently it's not that true to life......................
