Praying to the Red Light
Evening all.
The things you do when sleep eludes you.
I can't say i'm a person who needs a lot of sleep, i can easily get away with about five hours sleep a night on a regular basis.
However the difference between some sleep and no sleep at all is a massive one, and i've noticed that when i do get these infrequent bouts of insomnia it is usually when i least want them.
I can easily nod off toward the end of a good book or film on a friday night, when, if i had chosen to, i could have stayed awake all night long and just had a grumpy saturday, but give me the night before work and i'm like a giant lark on intravenous caffeine and amphetamine, brain engaged and sorting through the vagaries of life and my too self important place within it.
I think i shall have to go back to innoculating myself with large quantites of alcohol to ward off this semi dormant hinterland i find myself in. Of the two, i shall settle for indigestion over insomnia any day..
