That's the bedroom that Phil and I have in my cousin W's beautiful old -- and new -- home in southwest Virginia.
The original part of the house was built in 1842, just 10 years after Battlemont. Cousin W and her husband B bought the house in 1983, and the addition completed last year that about doubled the house's size, to about 7000 square feet (650 square meters). That sounds enormous, but the layout flows beautifully and there is plenty of room for their extended family to visit and W's 92-year-old mother, my aunt, to live with them in her own separate wing, visible to the right here.
Phil loves the beautiful wood floors in the front hallway and I love the parlour, but we're spending most of our time in the dining room, kitchen, and family room, as might be expected!
We've had a relaxing day, much needed after yesterday's multiple activities, and enjoyed good food, interesting conversations, and lots of laughter together. We're feeling very much at home here, and it will be hard to leave on Wednesday.
