Party Crasher
This morning we had four spoonbills show up in the salt marsh during low tide.
Everyone was having a good time until Mr. You Know Who shows up to spoil the whole thing.
Actually, in truth, they just ended up ignoring each other and the alligator kept gliding on by. It's funny how the birds seem to know (hope) the gator is not in hunt mode, at least not for birds.
In this photo you can see how the younger juvenile spoonbills have white heads and a lot of white feathers still in general, and their pink is quite pale. The pink will darken quite a bit as they age.
The two youngest ones are on the right.
