Day 225/17. An Emperor at Last.
My first Emperor Dragonfly in the New Forest tonight on an early evening walk. Very late in the season, but we managed to find this specimen on reeds at the edge of a small pond at Cadnam Common.
The Emperor dragonfly or blue emperor is a large species of hawker dragonfly of the family Aeshnidae, averaging 78 millimetres in length.
You'll be pleased to know that this is probably the last dragonfly picture of me this year.
