One day old

Yesterday this little chap was born in the field right next door to our caravan. Such a pity we were not here but some of the other caravaners were privileged to watch the birth and told us all about the expert delivery. However, once we returned it was obvious that the birth hadn't taken place too long ago as we watched the calf's first faltering steps and his Mum's loving encouragement to have his first drink and I'm glad to report that both Mother and son are doing very well. They are a red and white pied cattle breed from the Montbéliard region of France, used mainly for dairying and particularly for cheesemaking. I couldn't resist adding a shot of the beautiful Jersey cow No. 1406 who was showing a keen interest in the latest arrival on the Farm.

Today we've had a visit from one of Mr T's Grandsons, Paul. We haven't seen him for nearly 5 years so it's been good to have a really good catch up. Paul left us at 7pm and at midnight Mr T and I were huddled up in our coats and sitting outside the caravan, cricking our necks in the hope of seeing a stunning Perseids show. It was a lovely clear night but apart from quite a few shooting stars and lots of aeroplanes and maybe one or two satellites, there was no stunning light show. We may have another look tonight.
