Vegetables and People

It was change over day in Split today.  All the cruise boats return on Friday.  The passengers of the week leave on Saturday morning, the boats are restocked and the new passengers arrive in the afternoon.  The crews have a very short time in which to get all the food on board, the clean linen all carried on board, and fond farewells to be had.  This was changeover time on the boat that has been home for a week.

I couldn't believe just how busy the waterfront was!  There was traffic queueing for the ferry, people walking to the ferry, as well as people leaving, making deliveries and organising the way in which the new stuff got onto the ships while the passengers were still leaving...  And it was all done with such grace.  How hard those crew members work - turning their hands to anything that needs doing, and always so cheerfully.  They deserve every little bit of the tips they get.  

Our Dalmation Cruise has been so good.  Learnt a lot, met lovely people, seen some wonderful places, ate octopus (But not the bits with the suckers on!), swam in the sea, and experienced one of the most busy airports for its size I have ever passed through.
