Leveret in the stubble...
Sometimes things happen quite unexpectedly, and an opportunity is missed... but not today. Two days without rain (is this a British summertime record?) has allowed the men and machines to get on with the harvest and as they were cutting the field opposite The Woodlands I just had to go and take some photos.
So while some very impressive machinery was at work a young hare popped out of the standing wheat just in front of me. I just had time to get this photo just before it dashed off and was gone.
Sadly we live in an area where hare coursing is a major problem... unspeakable people are quite willing to threaten farmers and any member of the public, cause damage and even smash up police vehicles while they pursue this so called sport. What frustrates me most is that as usual, nothing meaningful to prevent this sort of thing seems to be possible.
