Greetings from the Edmonton Folk Music Festival!
The day started well with a great conversation between Carolee and Tim. I enjoyed the banter on an excellent afternoon.
Tim and I then headed to the FolkFest. I was so tickled pink to be there. I first went when I was 21 and it's been far too long since my last visit.
The evening started well with music from a great Québécois band De Temps Antan. Midway through the second band from Haiti we went to the beer tent for some refreshments. About 15 minutes after this blip was taken an almighty wind came rustling through with heavy clouds and we headed back to our tarp. When we got there, the announcer said that they had had a weather warning that dangerous winds were on their way in 15 minutes and they were evacuating the whole site! How do you get 10,000 Canadians to leave a FolkFest? You say 'please leave the FolkFest'. It was a pretty warm-spirited evacuation but the funny thing was that the winds never came. Still, better safe than sorry, I suppose. The forecast for tomorrow looks good - fingers crossed!
