This and That

With a rather dire forecast or rain sweeping east over the country, I elected to go for a pre breakfast walk round the policies to check on malefactors and such like. With a new fair having sprouted up behind the circus tent, the latter has an all encompassing brightly coloured wall and painted fencing protecting its area.

With no rain appearing, it was off later in the opposite direction to the masses of Festival visitors. Crossing the Meadows and Bruntsfield Links to leafy Morningside was literally a walk in the park compared to the struggle through crowded pavements into the city centre.

En route I blipped this lovely Lavatera bush against the red sandstone of the old Warrender Church which I attended as a child but which has now been converted into residential flats. I remember the minister being a fire and brimstone preacher whose theatrical sermon delivery in the pulpit reduced us Sunday School children to helpless giggles as we sat in the gallery on Communion Sundays.
His words went unheeded by us
