A remarkable woman.

This morning Rachel and I attended a celebration service at Brimpton Baptist church for a very dear friend of Rachel's family. Lily and her husband had been friends wth Rachel's parents for many years and she was particularly close to Rachel's Mum. For around forty years Dick (her husband who died a few years ago) and Lily were key members at Brimpton Baptist church where they are still fondly remembered. For the last few years Lily was not too well, however, I will always remember how uplifting a visit to her was. Despite problems with sight and mobility she was always so positive and grateful for everything that she was able to do and for her friends. 

As we stood by her graveside today, the warm sun was shining, the fields and trees surrounding the churchyard looked beautiful and there was a butterfly settling on a nearby bush, it suddenly struck me how much Lily would have appreciated such a fine day.
