Diary of an Edinburgher

Passport arrives!

Where to start? Well, 2.30am, probably, when Archie had a wee turn. Including running away from me in the back garden each time I went to pat him. I decided to distract him by taking him out for a walk. Luckily it was warm and dry. He responded to his name, to 'sit' and gobbled any treat I handed him. All normal behaviour. So I went back to bed a 3.30, and he settled down on the sofa. I am keeping a note for any future vet visits...

JR was expecting her fabled SA visa to arrive and it had to be signed for, so we couldn't go out. Friends came over for lunch, and yay! The doorbell went, and there it was! So then we could go out. We took our friends across to George Square, as they hadn't been there before.

As I walked along I saw some wee lads leaning on a wall, smoking with pretend cigarettes, so I scolded them, saying they were too young to be smoking. They fell about laughing and came and showed me that the fags weren't real. As I left, I heard one wee chap saying, 'That was a good reaction!'

Archie came too, and he was quite a hit. Lots of people came and made a fuss of him. Including a young woman dressed as a German (for her comedy show). 'Aha! A schnauzer!' she exclaimed in a fake German accent. Then she expressed surprise that he was, in fact, a schnauzer. 'Oh, I call them all 'schnauzers' because it sounds German'.

We had a free gin from a nice Aussie in a top hat, and just had a lovely afternoon in the (hot!) sun, chatting to folk. We had a beer and some more of the delicious crispy dumplings we'd had yesterday, before walking home across the Meadows. We watched the fab group The Spinning Blowfish. These two wee girls danced all the way past them.

We called in to see Rufus, who has had a wee sore paw for ages. His mum has bought him wee boots to protect his feet and sent us this photo, so we had to see them. Very smart! Hmmm... Archie gets sore paws from the grass... Perhaps he should have some some...

Talking of sore feet - I wore my Skechers all day and my problem toe wasn't sore!
