Let's get this straight

Edinburgh Council, along with most other Scottish local authorities, banned electoral posters in the week around an election because they are 'wasteful, not environmentally friendly and no longer relevant' but the city is littered with posters for Fringe shows for a month every summer. There were claims that the political posters stayed up too long although they were almost always taken done the following weekend, and if they weren't it was very clear who was responsible for them. How effective are these posters, advertising Fringe shows? How many people go to a show having seen a poster? How environmentally friendly are they? How wasteful? About the same as the political ones I'd guess. How about re-instating the political ones as clearly the objections that got them banned no longer apply.
