Koudelka

Went with my friend Paul to see the opening of an exhibition of landscape photographs by Josef Koudelka. The photographs were printed out on book form, and Koudelka likes his books not bound but concertina'd, so the display was two great big long glass cabinets (designed by my friend Christopher Muniz).

The photographs were thought-provoking and a bit disconcerting. Koudelka photographs disfigured landscapes (coal mines in the Czech Republic, the wall in East Jerusalem), but can find a beauty in the ugliness.
