Silver Spotted Skipper
A walk up Box Hill, Dorking, and beyond to Brockham Quarry, described by Surrey Wildlife Trust as a "hidden gem" because it's not accessible by car. It means that very few people come here, apart from Noel - I don't know his last name - who perches all day long most days in the summer on a little knoll, watching the peregrines that nest on the chalk cliffs here. In fact the peregrines are much easier to spot than Noel. I suspect he likes it that way. We came to find the Silver Spotted Skipper that seems to prefer low, sparse land where the chalk is poking through.
