Always inconstant...

rhapsodic rain..

What makes life beautiful?

I stood in the driving rain in the middle of a field, the wind blustering and posturing in a vigorous mood. In my ears some beautiful music accompanied by the sound of rain hitting my tightly pulled up hood.

Alone and in a thoughtful mood, the chill and the atmosphere of the day sent a shiver down my spine. People had looked at me askew as I walked slowly towards the open country, whizzing by in their warm cars, little did they see of the wonders that greeted me. With each foot step a new world reflected in the rain drops hanging from every leaf and branch, quivering in excitement at the imminent end of its journey from sky to ground. The heavy earth smells that came across in the winds, rich and enchanting, promise of things to come. Greens in such abundance that I lost count, shrubs with every colour of red berries that you could wish for and a pallet of Autumn hues that, as a painter, made my desire to get a new canvas on the go.

As the world spins, so does my heart, for as I asked at the beginning...what makes this all so bloody beautiful?? The answer for me is............the ability to see it.....to be able to look at the rain soaked earth and see poetry in it.
To see the wonder in the changing seasons, not just leaves falling from trees....but dancing pages of a single story whispering their tale to the wind as they spin through the air, promising to land at leisure and join in a new adventure.

I once asked a fellow traveller what they saw from the train as we sped along, "not much" came the reply. I smiled....she looked at me intently and asked "Why, what do you see?"
"Enough to fill a life of wakefulness, enough to listen and never speak, enough to never close your eyes and still want more and enough that a life time of movement will but scratch the surface of things to travel to."
"Blimey!" she said looking with renewed vigour out the window "Bloody Hell! You see more than I can!"

So.....there I was getting completely soaked, in the middle of a field, happier than I can say.

To me.......its all so beautiful!
