In My World

Who are you calling a Drongo?

I'm calling him a Drongo because, well, that's what he is ~ a Spangled Drongo!!

Look at his tail, how it looks like a fish tail!

I spent another long day out in the garden today, and the good news is that the pavers outside the back of the house are all sparkly clean, (well not really, they have a matte finish, but they are really clean!) after the lengthy pressure cleaning treatment they have been given.

My husband and I had pancakes for lunch, made by our son Adam, and shared with a magpie who came and sat on the table with us!

We sat out the back for lunch, after which we had a bit of fun with the camera, zooming in on some Rainbow Lorikeets in a tall tree, right down the end of the yard.

Noticing a bird clinging to an unopened palm leaf, I zoomed in on him and took a photo, not knowing what he was. After he was loaded onto the computer, I was able to identify the Spangled Drongo, which I have never seen before.

Today we had the first baby bird of the season visiting our garden too! He was a Common Myna and his soft downy feathers were very noticable. It was such a joy to listen to his tiny "cheap-cheap" sounds, and to see him open his beak for food. There is a photo of the new baby bird in My Blipfolio.

Spring is certainly showing signs of its arrival in our garden. :)
