Ugh and Ouch

These are hickory nuts that the hateful squirrels have thrown into my back yard after they proceed to eat off just a little of the outer shell.   They also have little bits of shells that will stab into your foot if you try to walk in the grass without shoes.   I almost twisted my ankle walking to my clothesline on these big hard things so I decided to rake what was in the area!  Hah!    The tree is absolutely loaded this year!  I will probably be raking until next spring!   Oh yes, the leaves fall off the tree in December or January but they do have wonderful gold color when they turn. 

I guess I will just quit complaining as there is nothing I can do about it except rake when needed!
