At the Foot of the Master
Two bentos for the Sports Day that never was. So disappointing that Valerie and Arthur's Sports Day was cancelled due to rain this morning. Doubly frustrating because the sun came out soon after they left for school. With Sports Day cancelled, Sunday became a regular school day as Sports Day is now rescheduled for Tuesday and I am unlikely to see. That is a shame as Arthur will be the star runner in his team's relay race; he will run twice because he is the fastest on the team and Valerie will conduct the school's brass band. At least they got to eat their bentos at school. If one of them doesn't look up to Kazuko's usual standard, that is because Arthur insisted on making his own bento. It is supposed to be his teacher, Shigeta-sensei.
With the kids away, I went to see an exhibition of Edward Burne-Jones paintings at the Hyogo Prefectural Museum of Modern Art. Fabulous Pre-Raphaelite paintings in Tadao Ando's magnificent museum which, for some obscure reason, currently has a giant inflatable frog wearing a dunce's hat sitting on top of it.
Then, in the afternoon I went for a 10k run and smashed my fastest time by finishing in 57 minutes. I am in the zone, and finally it is not the twilight one.
