My Great Success Story

Masterclass With Thomas

Today Emma, Courtney and I went to see the London Acoustic Guitar Show. Emma originally bought the tickets to see Newton Faulkner but it turns out two of my other heros were there as well: Andy Mckee and Thomas Leeb (pictured).

I've seen Thomas Leeb before (a gig in my uni department that Newton Faulkner attended!!) but it was great to see him chatting about some of his techniques and thoughts on songwriting.

Obviously Andy Mckee and Newton Faulkner were awesome as well but the best surprise was the main stage opener, Nick Harper, who combined fingerstyle with singing and a montage of styles.

I also played a few guitars, from the hideously expensive Greenfield fan-fret (around £7000 I would guess, I had to wear an apron while playing!!), a fan-fret Lowden (around £4-5000, same make as the one in the picture) and some others including Moon (?) and your usual Taylor. I loved the fan-frets and I didn't find they were too different to play. Unfortunately, starting in the multiple thousands, they're slightly out of my foreseeable price range. I'll stick with my trusty Maton (of which there were none at the show!).

In the evening had some curry round Courtney's and then watched Scent Of A Women at home. Just been mixing some tracks from the week, time for bed I think.
