You don't have to have expensive kit..

Last nights landscape photo absolutely needs top notch kit to capture the image, I think I calculated that there was somewhere around £4,000 worth of kit required to take that photo. Tonight's however, was taken with a £200 camera perched on the window sill of a Birmingham Hotel, yet I still managed to capture the light trails of the cars driving by. Never blame lack of creativity on your kit.
