At The Quay

Kingholm Quay is usually the lunch stopping point when visiting Aunt M.   It was once an important port for Dumfries.   That's Criffel in the distance (1,866 feet - all from sea level), and the River Nith flowing past.

Early 20th century librarian and historian, G W Shirley, wrote a song to celebrate Dumfries, Queen of the South.

Till Criffel sink, and Nith run dry
May Heaven maintain thy honour high.

In Extra:    Sullied innocence.....
