Photos like this are a reward for getting up at silly o'clock and getting to the park at first light when the owls are hungry. I have yet to catch one feeding on the ground - one day I will get lucky!
I also saw stag scraping the velvet off their antlers - not a pretty sight as you can see in my extra photo.
