Painted Lady

I think that is what this butterfly is but am happy to be corrected. I thought the best shot of the butterfly I got was when it mistook the picture on the bag of compost for a flower. However as it is Flower Friday the shot on the valerian won.

Posting early as we are off to Washington (the original one in County Durham, UK) to give a talk this evening. It will be the first since March and I hope I still remember what to say!
