Black Darter
Completely chuffed to find a female Black Darter on Ashdown Forest this morning. This is a rarity for Sussex and its the first time I've photographed one. Its the smallest dragonfly we get in the UK - at about 32mm long its no bigger than a damselfly. It came right at the end of my morning walk with the spaniel. Now that I know where to find them I will look for the male - which is almost entirely black. This one takes my Odonata species count to 21 for this season.
