Turnbull's Tornadoes

On my way to Easter Road today I spotted these two caricatures in a shop which sells old football programmes and memorabilia. John Blackley and Alan Gordon were members of the Hibernian team of the early eighties managed by Eddie Turnbull one of the Famous Five. This team, certainly the best Hibs team I have seen, challenged for the league title, won the League Cup in 1972, played some thrilling European matches and,of course ,beat Hearts on New Years day 1973 by 7 goals to nil. John Blackley was a key defender in the side and Alan Gordon, along with Jimmy O'Rourke, scored goals for fun! The former is I think still involved in football but Alan Gordon sadly is no longer with us.
For those of you interested todays game ended in a 2-2 draw and although
we lead 2-0 at one point the result was probably about right.
