It's Tomorrow Today

My Dear Fellow,

I had a strange conversation with Er Indoors before I went to bed last night. It went like this:

“How many days is it now?”

Er Indoors was tacking away at her iPad. That came out of the blue.

“Until when? Until we leave?”

“Yes.”

“Well… errr… it’s 31 days to September 2nd and then it’s 5 days after that. So 36.”

“Yes, but it’s already tomorrow.”

“What??”

"It’s already tomorrow in New Zealand.”

Oh I SEE. She was writing to Feefs in Tauranga.

“Well, since you’re talking to Feefs, I suppose you want to know the number of days until we ARRIVE. Not when we leave.”

“Yes.”

“In that case, it’s 31 days to the 3rd – and then seven days after that so 38.”

“That’s a weird way of doing it.”

“Regardless of your criticism it is still accurate.”

“Even if it’s tomorrow in New Zealand?”

“Even if it is tomorrow in New Zealand.”

This conversation may have led me to have a very strange dream overnight in which I dreamt we were already in Wellington, but it was weird and not quite right. I went to the travel agent (for some reason) and asked them if we could get a flight to Wellington. They told me yes. And then I was all, “AHA! Fell into my trap! We’re not REALLY in New Zealand at all are we?? This is still Singapore!”

The dastards! They were trying to save money by not flying us all the way but TELLING us they had!

These are the things that take over your subconscious when you are 36 – make that 35 – days from emigrating. Even if it is tomorrow in New Zealand.

Parsones

p.s. I ventured into the madness that is the Fringe today to pick up some tickets. It was a really nice vibe up there. I nearly had a Currywurst, but they didn't come with chips and that's just not right.
