Fennel
It's been so windy today that I thought this fennel plant wouldn't stay still long enough to photograph, but in the event it co-operated. The aperture is wide to blur the background, so not much of the flower is in focus, but enough is to see the little individual flowers, like tiny marzipan cake decorations. From a distance the colour of the flower heads appears to be yellow ochre, but close up it's clear that they're a much brighter yellow than that. Experience has taught us that mature fennel plants don't like to be moved (or, at least, not the way we did it) so these new plants will be staying put, now that they've settled in.
