The Road Trip Begins!

Today the road trip began! We arose early, drove down to Tsawassen and embarked on a beautiful crossing to Nanaimo on Vancouver Island. We stopped for lunch there and picked up a couple of the obligatory Nanaimo bars. From there we headed north, bound for Port Hardy and the next ferry. Along the way we stopped at a lake surrounded by red cedar trees. Today's blip gives you an idea of how huge some of these magnificent trees grow. I'm not sure I had ever seen a cedar tree in the flesh, do to speak, but I certainly recognised one by the delicious scent.

It was a long drive up the length of the island and the motel room left much to be desired but it was all worth it.
