The Lady Boys of Bangkok
Doris, from our dance class, leaped at the chance to join the Lady Boys from Bangkok on stage this evening at the Macrobert arts centre.
And she gave a good if short performance. See this link on Facebookhttps://www.facebook.com/titchtwitter
Over the years many have spoken highly of this Thai musical group of boys dressed up as women and out of curiosity, I went along.
M refused.
Fortunately, some from our dance class were more open-minded though, to be honest M would have hated it. To start with there were only a handful of men there and the music was very loud.
Bits of it were also politically incorrect- one of the stars was a dwarf.
And some acts were risqué, to say the least: one member of the audience found himself on stage tied up and blindfolded while one of the dancers “played” with him.
During the interval, people could go on stage and be photographed with the cast, at a charge of £5. Very few took up the challenge.
Surprisingly cameras and video were allowed throughout the performance but no flash.
Well, it was a raffish evening…
