Stan
Once upon a time in the town of Aylesbury lived a young Stag Beetle called Stan. He'd had this urge for adventure for some little while, so after the sun had set he decided to take to the skies in search of "pastures new"
He stretched his wings and flew around and around and around not knowing or caring which way he went .....he hadn't gone far when suddenly he flew into a white silky material. He struggled & struggled & struggled, but the more he struggled the more he became entombed...he remembered his dad had said IF you are ever night flying watch out for spiders' webs because once in, there is no escape...always leave your flying until dawn when the light is better. He now realised that ignoring his father's words may have cost him dearly......
He couldn't believe that he was stuck and struggled and struggled struggled again, but the more he struggled the worse it became and very soon he couldn't move at all. By this time the sun had risen and he could see that he was near a hooman house and before long the door opened and a handsome hooman appeared in his vest & not much else. He was standing there looking out across the pasture when he suddenly noticed Stan hanging in the web. The hooman, who's name was Richard, gently removed the web with Stan still attached & took him inside. He recognised that Stan was part of a protected species in the UK and he would do his best to rescue Stan from his plight.
Before he knew it he was laying on a white surface and the hooman was talking to him saying " Now lets see if we can get you out of this". Then suddenly out of the corner of his eye Stan saw something sharp coming straight towards him and feeling very scared he summoned all of his energy & nipped the thing that was "attacking" him. It turned out that the hooman was trying to scrape the web from his shell with a small pair of scissors, unfortunately the hooman's finger got in the way & Stan nipped Richard enough to make to make him fall to the floor. He was quite unharmed & the hooman picked him up and proceeded with what he had started. Pretty soon Stan was 85% clear of the silk that was binding him and Richard was happy with what he had done.
Stan was still very tired and so Richard left him on an envelope for 30 minutes whilst he recovered. After that Stan was gently lifted and placed back in the pasture under the leaf of a plant where he continued his recovery ......after a couple of hours Stan felt pretty good again and crawled off for another adventure ....this time he would remember his father's advice & wait until the early morning ....
That was a short story by Richard Crawford Esq which was based on an an actual events leading to the rescue of Stan the Stag Beetle.....
Other than that I did some more jobs in the garden this morning then heavy rain stopped play and I came in & relaxed ......
Very windy today
