Senses

It's interesting to see how senses and memory go together or part ways. My mother has excellent vision. She can spot a colorful bit of glass or trash from 10 feet and swoop down to pick it up. She reads signs as we drive that I can only see with my glasses on. But she doesn't remember having seen. Yesterday when we pulled into Cornwall Park she used her familiar line: "You're not leaving me here, are you?" Did she think we were at Silverado? I said nope, we're going for a walk. Then she'll say she hasn't been here in years, even though we come about once a week.

She hopped out of the car and immediately went over to touch this marble sculpture, commenting on how smooth and cool it felt. Her vision, hearing, and touch are all pretty good. Smell and taste, not so much.
