Today's the day ..................... to promise

There was a Summer Garden Party this evening at Blackwell, the Arts & Crafts House overlooking Lake Windermere.

It's a perfect venue for such a do - and this one celebrated the current 'Summer of Swallows and Amazons'  exhibition with drinks and canapes on the lawn, 1930s entertainment, lively music from the Gramophone DJs, croquet - and an exclusive Auction of Promises.  One of the items promised was an original watercolour portrait painting of a subject to be chosen by the successful bidder.  The person donating the item was that well-known watercolour artist - Will Williams.

This was the successful recipient of the promise - having a portfolio of pictures taken by Will.  He will use these as the basis from which he will paint her portrait.  And if you want to know how it all turns out in the end, you'll just have to watch his space ......................
