Wild Bleak Yonder.
Local pilot Jim McTaggart demonstrates his 1940s Piper Cub in the inclement skies above East Fortune Airfield. Sadly, this ended up being the only aeroplane flying amidst a host of cancellations of other attractions such as the Flying Fortress Sally B and the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight - the weather was just to bad for safe flying across most of the country.
Painted in the distinctive D-Day invasion stripes, painted on the wings and fuselage of Allied aircraft as an aid to friend-or-foe identification, this light aircraft was used by the United States Army Air Force as a forward spotter plane after originally being developed as a trainer.
