Pecking Order
I'd been pretty sure I'd blip the fallow deer I spotted in the lower fields, but....
the reds are back. Hadn't seen any for a while and was starting to worry, they're such a fragile little population. This one is tiny, and though it doesn't really show, he has prominent white streak along his tail, so he should be quite easy to spot. Despite his size though he seems either dominant or maybe just aggressive. Whilst he was very vary of me he obviously scared the other red who stayed high in the tree out of his way. There was quite a lot of hissing.
Hopefully they'll stay and learn to accommodate each other. Between us and the neighbours there's an acre of woodland and literally dozens of feeders (several red squirrel specific in design) so it must count as good real estate!
