A wonderful Summer Day!

Squirrel has a week of 2 hour gymnastic sessions - with a 'show' on Friday.
So it was without her that we visited SWMBO's mother.
The Cygnet was very good and just sat quietly playing a game on his tablet.
I have no idea what time he was up this morning but he tried to have a kip in the car on the way home. I was beginning to wonder if he was feeling unwell - especially when he only wanted half a tin of sardines on toast today (he 'discovered' sardines on holiday and loves them).
The walk through the woods at lunchtime revealed that 'They' have tried once again to rip up the tree stump. So far it has resisted all efforts and has been going round in circles on all sides. The one remaining root must be a (flexible) corker!
Maybe the root monster is looking after it.
I liked the contrasts in this moss climbing up the birch through the bracken but I don't think I have done it justice ......... maybe another day.
The wee bracket fungus on the fallen tree has been calling me for ages and today I gave in and took a picture of it. The gills on the big one was just a bonus.

At the end on the walk PD and I joined SWMBO and the kids at the playpark where there was a very 'personable' 3 year old who was very good about asking what PD's reaction would be if she stroked him ,,,,, does he bite?, would he lick her?...... because she loved dogs.
She loved him enough to give him an invitation to her birthday party!
Her mother nearly wet herself.
Squirrel was very good at helping her on the zip line and rope climbing frame.
She was also really good on her new, bigger bike.

When we left, The Cygnet was going through a pile of recipe books to find something he fancied for his dinner. I think he might be sorely disappointed if he finds it is not what his mother is doing.
