Powered Up

Day two of the annual Steam-Up. Here a young engineer demonstrates how to run a windmill using steam, rather than letting the wind do it. On farms and ranches, windmills usually pumped the water, but used backup methods when they had to, too, most often electric.
Later, in Portland, our tap dance class performed our number at the Willamette River Festival in Cathedral Park under the St Johns Bridge.
