I wonder

What the Romans thought of this view. Arriving by boat having travelled up Windermere and just about to enter the fort that they constructed on this site. A low key wander about Ambleside - weather looked a bit uncertain for a longer walk so we walked down to the lake for lunch and then back via the Roman remains and the riverside footpath. Sat a while to watch the Sand Martins and before long had seen all four as House Martins, Swallows and Swifts had also flown over us. And then we saw a Cormorant swimming by, heading towards the lake. Never seen one on quite so small a watercourse before - much more Dipper territory. A cup of camomile in a new coffee shop and a visit to Zeff's to look forward to this evening.
