Wyndley Pool

The last trip up to the Midlands involved visiting the family solicitor in Knowle to sign some probate papers and doing some house maintenance in Sutton Coldfield.

It was also important to visit the Dog and Doublet at Bodymoor Heath to confirm that they had not recovered the lens hood I accidentally left there the time before. It had been handed in but the staff had subsequently managed to discard it, but had said they would get in touch if it rematerialised. It hadn't, but while we were there we thought we might as well have a cappuccino and some treacle sponge pudding and custard, and a westward stroll along the Birmingham and Fazeley Canal as far as the locks at Marston Field Bridge.

As we drove from there to Sutton, I made sure we passed through Lindridge Road as on our previous trip the ponies that live in the field there had been absent. This time they were present and correct, though too busy grazing to attend our photo call from the barbed-wire fence.

When we had finished at the house, we drove over to Sutton Park to see the swans and other waterfowl on Wyndley Pool, and they provided a satisfying conclusion to our visit. The colour of the light on the water has not been digitally modified.
