After The Rain
Last night, for the second week in a row, my men's volleyball game was rained out. The three courts on which we play are covered, but the rain came down in such torrents that the two outer courts were deemed unsafe and our game halted. I did stay for a while to watch the contest on the middle court. The were so many lightning flashes it was as if a 100 paparazzi were in the stands watching as well. After the first set, I decided the rain was not going to let up any time soon and I needed to get home before the streets became impassible. It is a good thing I am so familiar with the drive because the rain was falling so hard it was almost impossible to see which was fine because the route was more river than road anyway. There was little need for headlights as the near constant lightning provided plenty of illumination. Definitely adventure driving at its finest. This morning, the results of last night's storm were all over the road to town. Each of the steep condo driveways spewed lots of rock and gravel onto the main thoroughfare, causing even the combi drivers to slow down slightly on their daily routes.
