Mystery on the Playing Field.

At lunchtime I saw eight policemen striding through the vegitation at the bottom of the bank you see here. Nothing seemed to be found,but this evening the arrival of the police van attracted my attention. ( Must have it's photo).Two policemen did the same thing, but went away empty handed. What were they looking for ? What has happened?
