Step one...

Me: "Do you want to help me make the tuna bake?
No.2 son: "Yes please. Now, let's start with Step One."
Me: "Hmm, shall we wash our hands?"
No.2 son: "No"
Me: "Check the recipe?"
No.2 son: "No"
Me: "Collect the ingredients?"
No.2 son (with considerably less patience now): "NO"
Me: "I don't know then honey, what's the first step."
No.2 son: *sighs* "Step One, we draw our hats.  Step Two, we cut them out. Step Three, we staple them together and Step Four *triumphantly* We Put Them On!"
Me: "Oh. Now I see."
And so we did.
