Mystery Solved

Little Sparta volunteering day.
There are a group of clay flower pots next to reception.  Each had the name of a woman.  Each contains a weed or a wild flower (depending on how you view these things).  I have wondered about these and today I got an explanation.
The French revolution was one of Ian Hamilton-Findlay's interests.  The names commemorated on the pots were women of the revolution who were guillotined.  As they walked to the guillotine they carried posies of wild flowers.
Mystery solved.
