The University Organ.

This is one of two organs in Great St Mary's church, Cambridge. The chancel houses the parish organ used for the congregation which was bought in 1869 and replaced in1991 and this organ in the West Gallery is owned and maintained by the university. Constructed by the renowned Father Bernard Smith and installed in 1698, it has been restored over the years. It is the largest repository of Father Smith's pipework in a single instrument. The extra is the sunlight streaming   through the main door of the church. The city was packed with tourists as usual so after getting fruit from the market, some lining for my bedroom curtains and a trip to the library, I made my way home. The  rain which was forecast for all day, thankfully didn't arrive until 6.45 pm  I have heard the parish organ being played, but not this one.
