Fancy showing off your talent? Or listening to people show off theirs? There's a new Open Mike night at The Village in Edinburgh's South Fort Street starting this Sunday.

My mate Al, who's organising it, puts it this way: If you want to leap on stage and perform a few songs (or tell a few jokes), you can, if not, just come along and be entertained. All welcome, entry is free and the beer is good. The entertainment starts at 8pm and ends at 11.

Knowing Al, there'll be more screaming and pain than Casualty, and more drama-queenery than Jane Eyre.
