White flowers, dark river
The Massan Burn was dark and smooth this afternoon, topped up by some very heavy rain the other day. It makes much less sound when there's a lot of water - when it's shallow it gurgles and splashes. The sun had been shining further down the glen, but by the time we'd reached the hanging valley and passed the farm a persistent cloud had stationed itself in front of where the sun still appeared above the hill and we didn't feel like lingering.
It was when we were halfway down the first steep section of the road that I remembered the meeting that evening that I'd clean forgotten ...
I made it. Just.
